　 　 蓝鲨也叫大青鲨，属于真鲨科鱼类，多见于温带和热带远洋区中，喜冷。全长可达6米，吻部较尖，牙有锯齿缘，以长距离迁徙著称，其主要食物来源是鱼和枪乌贼。一般情况下其行动较为迟缓，但在必要时能以极快的速度前进。卵胎生，一次可生4到100只幼鲨。它被公认为一种袭击人类的鲨鱼。

　 　 性情凶猛。动物食性，食鱼类、鱿鱼类和虾类，有时游近海岛捕食。只吃活食，有时也吃腐肉.在寻找食物时，通常一条或几条在水中游弋，一旦发现目标就会快速出击吞食之。特别是在轮船或飞机失事有大量食饵落水时，它们群集而至，处于兴奋狂乱状态的鲨鱼几乎要吃掉所遇到的一切，甚至为争食而相互残杀。
 　　耐低氧能力强，适应性广，但抗低温能力弱。适温20℃—34℃，最佳生长水温26℃—32℃，水温低于18℃时活动缓慢，反映迟钝；水温低于12℃时开始死亡。该鱼食性较杂，幼鱼以浮游动物为饵料，成鱼以水生植物及人工配合饲料为食，饲料蛋白质要求28%—32%。
 　　食性杂，食量大，生长速度快，当年鱼苗（3cm—4cm）养殖4个月，体重可达0.6kg以上。该鱼性成熟较晚，饲养3年—4年，体重达3kg以上可以进行繁殖。繁殖季节为4月—9月，属一年一次性产卵鱼类。
